3 EASY STEPS FOR CHANGE:

1. Save your pocket change every day.

2. Tell your friends to join you as you do the Cha-Cha Slide to set a new Guinness World Record! (We need over 3,300 people to set a new record!)

3. Sign up for the event and bring your friends, your change, and your dancing shoes to Blackbaud Stadium on Daniel Island at 10 a.m. on December 1, 2012.

Who is Ansley?

Ansley is a five year old girl from Charleston that battled Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. She was diagnosed in December 2010 and has been through a long fight to be cancer-free! Out of this experience, Ansley's family started a non-profit organization called The Journey House. You can click here to read more about the mission of The Journey House.

What is Ansley’s Attempt?

Last year, Ansley (and over 1,450 people from Charleston) partnered together to make an attempt at setting a Guinness World Record for the Largest Mosaic Picture ever created. With over 4,000 people in attendance, this community effort was successful and a new world record was set (click here for details). This was Ansley's (first) Attempt. Our desire is to use a similar event each year to make an attempt at a new Guinness World Record in order to raise funds for The Journey House and to raise community awareness about the needs of families going through very difficult times. This year, the 2nd Annual Ansley's Attempt will be to attempt to set a new Guinness World Record for the Largest Group of People Doing the Cha-Cha Slide. The current record (not yet shown on the GWR website) is ~3,300 people, and we would like to blow this record away! Let us know you'll be there by signing up today!

What is The Journey House?

The vision of The Journey House is to create a place of healing for families that are affected by a life-changing medical condition. The mission is to share the love and good news of Christ by relieving burdens, offering hope, and strengthening families who have a child that has been affected by a life-changing diagnosis, whether chronic or life-threatening.

The goals are:
1) To build a family-centered home that meets the needs of families with children who have life-changing illnesses, ranging from free lodging and food to care for siblings;

2) To provide support groups and relational events for these families, including Parents’ Night Out!; and

3) To provide counseling and prayer ministries for these families/marriages.

How is This Different from the Ronald McDonald House?
We see our vision as complementary. The RMH is almost 100% full throughout the year, so while they are doing a great work, the need is still great. Also, we want to serve families of patients that are inpatients and outpatients at MUSC, as many families in need return frequently from long distances for several days of outpatient treatments and appointments.

How Can I Get Involved?

Ready to dance? Sign up today to join us in breaking the record on December 1st! If you are interested in being part of our volunteer staff for this event, please go to TheJourneyHouse.org or ChaChaforChange.com and follow the links to sign up. Also, you can email Amy McEvoy, Executive Director of The Journey House, at amym@TheJourneyHouse.org if you need more information.

How Can I Donate?

Start saving your pocket change (or bills!) from now until Dec 1, 2012 and bring it with you to the 2nd Annual Ansley's Attempt. We would love for children to be involved with filling an empty milk jug with change and bringing it with them on the day of the event!

We also need larger one-time and monthly donations. Every dollar that is donated will bring us one step closer to serving these families in need. Please click here to donate through The Journey House website.

All proceeds will benefit The Journey House. The Journey House exists to share the love of Jesus by relieving burdens, offering hope, and strengthening families who have a child with a life-changing illness.
